Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals
Coordinator
Posted: 24 August
Offer description

Based within the Ophthalmology POD at St Helier Hospital, the post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative and clerical issues relating to the patient's pathway of care; tracking and supporting them from referral to treatment and/or discharge.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 dynamic and motivated individuals to join the Ophthalmology team on a part-time basis at St Helier Hospital in a Band 4 Patient Pathway Coordinator role.

The post holder will be IT literate and play a key role in ensuring smooth and efficient pathway administration for patients during their journey through the service. The successful applicant will be highly motivated, proactive, well-organised, with a strong sense of patient/customer care. The ability to multitask, work in a team, and work under pressure in a busy office environment is essential.

Candidates should have good knowledge and understanding of patient access targets and ideally have prior experience working in an administrative role.

This is a fantastic opportunity for those wanting to broaden their skills and who may be seeking to develop a career in an NHS or healthcare setting.

The post holder will work with their team to organise appointments, diagnostic tests, and surgery/treatment dates for patients referred to Ophthalmology, working closely with clinicians and multidisciplinary teams. The role also involves booking emergency surgery for patients attending our acute eye service. Monitoring the outpatient waiting list to ensure timely care is also part of this role. Excellent communication and organisational skills, along with a keen eye for detail, are essential.

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of medical services to approximately 490,000 people across southwest London and northeast Surrey. We also provide specialized services, particularly renal and neonatal intensive care, to a wider area including parts of Sussex and Hampshire.

Our service area is diverse, encompassing urban and rural communities. In partnership with NHS Surrey and NHS Sutton and Merton, we aim to deliver the best possible care to our communities.

The Trust employs around 5,000 staff across its hospitals and is supported by over 500 volunteers.
