We are seeking two new colleagues to join our Intelligence Team in Glasgow, which is based within Social Security Scotland’s Fraud and Error Resolution Unit (FERU). As an Intelligence Officer you’ll play a vital role in safeguarding valuable Counter Fraud information. You will develop a wide range of knowledge of all Social Security Scotland’s benefits and be involved in the first step of our Counter Fraud process. This includes assessing, developing, corroborating, and disseminating information from multiple sources to relevant stakeholders, including working closely with colleagues across Social Security Scotland and the wider Counter Fraud community. As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate an ability for sound and consistent evidence-based decision making. You will be flexible within your role, comfortable in a changing environment, and enjoy working collaboratively to identify opportunities for improvements, exploring new ideas and solutions. Responsibilities Responsibilities You will be responsible for responding to enquiries from colleagues, other government departments and handling reports in relation to allegations of fraud, including: Developing enhanced intelligence products and packages Utilising data to proactively identify potential fraud risks Working alongside intelligence management team to develop and improve how we use data to identify fraud and potential fraud risks Noting and assessing fraud allegations from a variety of sources Triaging, monitoring and managing intelligence/information relating to fraud from internal and external sources Identifying potential high harm scenarios in incoming intelligence/information and flagging these within the appropriate timescale Tracing additional information to corroborate intelligence and grading appropriately Utilising open-source information to corroborate and develop intelligence received from multiple sources Compiling intelligence reports in the recognised national intelligence model format Working with Counter Fraud colleagues internally and externally to support the continuous improvement of fraud reporting channels Qualifications Success Profiles Success profiles are specific to each job and they include the mix of skills, experience and behaviours candidates will be assessed on. Working Pattern Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options, depending on the needs of the role. We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices. There is an expectation of a minimum 2 days per week in your assigned location, which will be 220 High Street, Glasgow. The successful candidate will be required to cover the Fraud Hotline on a rota basis between 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
