This is a hybrid role based at our Hull or Watford site, with occasional travel between locations as needed.
We are seeking a dynamic Global Category Leader for our Capital Equipment & Equipment Maintenance category. You will lead category strategy, oversee significant expenditures, and engage with suppliers and stakeholders worldwide. Expertise in category management is essential to deliver innovative solutions aligned with our operational and manufacturing goals.
This role involves leading sourcing projects end-to-end, optimizing demand management, and championing supplier performance and innovation. You will define specifications, improve vendor relationships, and execute strategic plans. Reporting to the Global Category Director, you will be part of a team that values care, collaboration, and courage.
Responsibilities:
* Develop and own category strategies aligned with business objectives, securing stakeholder approval and ensuring clear communication.
* Achieve cost savings targets within the CAPEX category and manage supplier, market, and internal data.
* Identify and mitigate supplier risks, address performance issues, and ensure compliance with procurement policies.
* Lead projects based on the CAPEX strategy, contributing to the Annual Procurement Category Plan.
* Manage supplier relationships through segmentation, metrics, contract negotiations, and governance activities, including Executive and Quarterly Business Reviews.
* Collaborate with strategic suppliers to drive innovation aligned with Smith+Nephew's goals.
* Supervise a small team, ensuring alignment with overall category strategy and stakeholder communication.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Extensive procurement experience, especially in leading global category strategies.
* Expertise in Capital Equipment & Equipment Maintenance management.
* Knowledge of MRO, Facilities, and Real Estate categories is a plus.
* Professional qualification such as CIPS or equivalent is preferred.
* Strong ability to develop strategic supplier relationships, drive cost efficiency, and lead procurement initiatives.
