Job Summary
Substance Misuse Nurse needed for HMP Altcourse, a Category B prison located in Fazakerley, Liverpool. The position offers a dynamic environment with a varied, fast‑paced schedule and the chance to make a real difference in the lives of patients.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver a nurse‑led substance misuse service and help prevent hospital admissions.
* Conduct medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency responses, assess patients, and perform reception screening.
* Lead nurse‑led clinics for your patient group, supported by multidisciplinary staff.
* Provide evidence‑based, personalised care, actively listening to and acting on patient feedback.
* Deliver non‑judgemental care that makes a positive impact.
* Build strong links with partners and stakeholders, promoting best practice and continuous quality improvement.
* Share knowledge and skills to maintain safe care and strengthen multidisciplinary teamwork.
Hours
* Monday–Sunday service with various shift patterns: 7:00‑8:00 PM, 8:00‑9:00 PM, 9:00‑10:00 PM.
* 37.5 hours per week.
* Night shift: 7:45 PM–7:15 AM.
Salary
Full‑time. Annual salary ranges from £34,428 to £41,659, depending on experience.

Qualifications & Experience
* Registered with the NMC as an Adult or Mental Health nurse.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development (CPD).
* RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake the qualification.
* Experience working with opioid‑dependent patients.
* Sound clinical knowledge of substance misuse.
* A non‑judgemental, compassionate approach.
* Prior experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment is desirable.
