About the Role The Opportunity The Strategic Planning function at Heysham 2 Power Station is responsible for the planning of statutory outages and ensuring programmes are delivered safely and in line with station objectives. We are seeking an Outage Planner who will collaborate closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring operational programmes are accurate, optimised, and achievable. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to lead cross‑functional working groups and foster a collaborative team approach. In this role, you will liaise with station departments to develop and maintain a fully logic‑linked and resourced outage plan. Working alongside the Outage Coordinator, you will support milestone preparation, oversee delivery, and monitor progress throughout the execution phase. Pay, benefits and culture The salary range for this post is between £45,641 - £95,993; however, the starting salary will be within the range of £45,641 - £81,263, that apply with our terms and conditions covered by the EDF Company Agreement. The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experiences, and qualification. What you’ll be doing As an Outage Planner at Heysham 2, you will have the following responsibilities: Develop fully sequenced and resourced Level 3 plan, reviewing historic similar plans to identify differences and review these with appropriate Station departments Integrate all activities in each work area, match work scope to available resource, group work permit boundaries with the SAP and coordinate the use of common services & facilities Manage changes to the plan due to “Scope Change” through the preparation phase and include contingency activities Maintain the plan during the execution phase by updating progress, tracking critical / Sub-critical path, reviewing impact of emergent work & identifying any errors / improvements required in the plan Check plan against Technical Specifications and other compliance requirements Produce outage reports as requested Support and contribute to post outage reviews, capturing all Operating Experience (OPEX) within the plan & investigating critical path duration variations Provide ongoing support to Outage Co-ordinator Who you are Individuals will hold a relevant qualification at minimum HNC level or equivalent, engineering or scientific may be advantageous. It would also be beneficial to have two years’ project planning experience, although this is not essential. Familiarity with, or an understanding of, planning systems such as AMS and Primavera would also be an advantage. You will also be proficient in using Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint. Closing date for applications is Sunday 1st March 2026.
