The Team
Shoosmiths’ Private Client Conveyancing Team provides highly professional conveyancing services aimed at making property transactions efficient and stress-free. We are the largest firm of conveyancing solicitors accredited under the Law Society's Conveyancing Quality Scheme. Our service maintains high standards and is recognized in national consumer service awards.
The Role
We are seeking an Assistant Paralegal to support our conveyancing team by providing quality, customer-focused service. No law degree is required.
Main Responsibilities
1. Acquire basic knowledge of the conveyancing process, including post-completion work, and understand the roles of support teams such as New Business and Accounts.
2. Handle office administration tasks such as managing post, filing, file closures, and distributing faxes.
3. Prepare draft contract packages, all searches, exchange, and completion letters.
4. Support Paralegals in progressing transactions proactively with all stakeholders.
5. Assist in maintaining up-to-date task reports.
6. Ensure the case management system is orderly and current.
7. Address client queries where possible, assisting with telephone communications.
8. Draft non-standard, non-technical correspondence competently.
Full training will be provided by our in-house conveyancing trainer, with a mentor assigned for ongoing support. Attendance at the office during probation is required for training and supervision, with potential for agile working post-probation.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication skills, gained from experience in a customer service role, preferably in an office environment. You should enjoy teamwork, be adaptable to changing client needs, and be organized and independent. A legal qualification (LLB, CILEX, CLC, etc.) is not essential but demonstrating a keen interest in conveyancing and property law is important.
