Role Overview
This role is to assist the Project Manager and Construction Manager in project delivery and site engineering/setting out, ensuring safe delivery of the project to time, cost and quality requirements. The main project is a highways project which requires bridge examinations and general engineering duties around the M40 junction 10‑12.
This role requires experience of using robotic total station, generally line and level control, and the ability and willingness to travel around the country.
Key Tasks
* Technical Assurance of Construction Works
o Verify that works are constructed in accordance with approved designs
o Risk assessments (RAMS)
o Inspection/test regimes
o Provide daily engineering assurance on site
o Identify deviations from design or method and escrow
* Inspection, Verification and Records
o Support “hold, witness and inspection points” within the Engineering Management Plan
o Maintain accurate engineering records and evidence
* Undertake or Support Setting out and dimensional checks
o Inspection of safety‑critical works
o Verification of construction activities (e.g. pours, groundworks, installation)
o Maintain accurate engineering records and evidence
o Support “hold, witness and inspection points” within the Engineering Management Plan
* Temporary Works Implementation (TWS‑type functions where delegated)
o Installation of temporary works
o Inspection prior to loading/use
o Removal and dismantling
o Ensure works are implemented only in accordance with approved designs and permits
* Supervise
o Acting as or supporting a TWS
o Installation of temporary works
o Inspection prior to loading/use
o Removal and dismantling
o Ensure works comply with approved designs and permits
* Monitoring Compliance and Escalation
o Identify non‑conformances, deviations from design or RAMS, unsafe or uncontrolled works
o Escalate issues to TWC / Construction Manager / DI as appropriate
o Prevent progression of non‑compliant work activities
* Engineering Input into Planning and Sequencing
o Support constructability reviews
o Sequencing of works
o Interface coordination (temporary/permanent works)
* Assist in Defining
o Safe build methodology
o Logical construction stages
o Evidence, records and “golden thread”
* Produce and Maintain
o Inspection records
o Verification data
o As‑built information
* Contribute To The Project Evidence Base Required Under
o Building Safety Act 2022
o Engineering Management Plan requirements
o Support to Dutyholder Framework (CDM 2015)
* Act As a Key Enabler Of Dutyholder Compliance By
o Monitoring construction works
o Providing real‑time assurance
o Supporting risk control implementation

Qualifications & Experience Required
* Civil Engineering degree
* Bridge & structures examinations experience
* Managing and organising ITPs
* Compiling and managing H&S files
* Highways experience (not essential)
* SMSTS/SSSTS
* CSCS
