About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to join our team on a 6-month contract basis for a utility-scale solar farm construction project in Ireland. This role requires a proactive and hands-on HSE professional to lead all health, safety, and environmental aspects of the site, ensuring compliance with Irish legislation, industry best practices, and company standards.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in construction HSE management, ideally in renewable energy or civil infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement and manage the project's HSE plan in alignment with corporate and legislative requirements.
* Ensure compliance with Irish HSA (Health and Safety Authority) regulations and environmental legislation.
* Conduct daily site inspections, audits, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
* Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
* Maintain up-to-date records of inspections, incidents, training, and risk assessments.
* Develop site-specific risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) in collaboration with contractors.
* Provide HSE training, guidance, and support to site personnel and subcontractors.
* Liaise with statutory bodies, environmental agencies, and stakeholders as required.
* Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
* Drive a strong safety culture across all site activities.
* Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports for internal and client reporting.
Requirements
Essential:
* NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent HSE qualification
* Minimum 5 years' HSE experience in construction, with at least 2 years in renewable energy, utilities, or civil works
* Thorough knowledge of Irish HSE legislation and HSA guidelines
* Strong communication, leadership, and reporting skills
* Proven ability to influence and promote safe working culture on-site
* Right to work in Ireland and a full, clean driving licence
Desirable:
* Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
* IOSH or equivalent professional membership
* Experience working on solar PV, wind farms, or other renewable energy projects
* First Aid and Manual Handling Instructor certifications
