About the role:To provide first line management to deliver an excellent visitor safety service. Ensure the safety and security of our visitors and the collection through the management of a team and operational management of all Health and Safety, security and emergency responsibilities.Key areas of responsibility:Manage a team and undertake all line management responsibilities including:performance and appraisal;engage and motivate the team;support training, personal and professional development, and more.Plan and co-ordinate resources effectively, assigning duties and ensuring appropriate operational staff cover / deployment;Manage safety and security in public spaces by, for example, managing visitor flow, actively patrolling, monitoring and ensuring that required checks have been undertaken;Manage operational situations including emergencies, incidents and visitor complaints, escalating as appropriate;Manage Health and Safety for staff and visitors by ensuring all checks and responsibilities are correctly undertaken;Provide information and guidance to visitors on all areas, including special exhibitions, the public programme, collections and facilities;Encourage visitors to provide feedback and act to pass these on;Use the Museum’s collections and displays to engage and inspire visitors.Any other duties as assigned.About you:The ideal candidate would have experience in managing others in line with operational procedures, has a good knowledge of Microsoft based IT systems, is able to complete reports and complete these electronically, and has good management and team leadership skills.Please note that holding an SIA door supervisors' licence is an essential requirement of the role.
