This is a fixed-term contract for parental leave cover to bring expertise and capacity to our client's Scotland Business Development and Commercial Team. It focuses on securing and closing commercial and legal agreements that enable the growth of our client's Scottish heat networks. The role may also provide tactical support to the Head of Business Development and the wider team on other projects as needed.
Role Overview
The Commercial Manager (CM) is responsible for providing commercial support to support business growth, making recommendations to the Head of Business Development, and working within Project Teams to deliver risk-based commercial decisions aligned with KPIs and contractual obligations. This client-facing role involves representing colleagues with clients, customers, and joint venture partners. The CM will collaborate with colleagues from business development, engineering, and delivery to shape and deliver district heating infrastructure projects, support operational decisions, and manage contracts through various phases.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preparing high-quality bids and proposals, designing and modelling commercial structures for each deal.
2. Leading commercial negotiations to contract close.
3. Managing contracts during project delivery, including contracts such as Energy Services Agreements, Adoption Agreements, and others.
4. Supporting Project Managers in project governance and risk management.
5. Working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project progression from bidding to on-site execution.
Candidate Profile
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Commercial Manager demonstrating negotiation and financial modelling skills for major deals.
