Teaching Assistant – Primary SEMH Provision
GSL Education are proud to be working in partnership with a highly supportive and specialist Primary SEMH provision in Bournemouth, dedicated to supporting children with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant, or someone from a transferable background, who is passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of children who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access learning.
The provision supports pupils who may experience a range of needs including:
* Emotional regulation difficulties
* Anxiety and attachment-related needs
* Social communication challenges
* Trauma-related behaviours
* Barriers to engagement in learning linked to SEMH needs
The setting places a strong emphasis on relationships, consistency, and a nurturing approach to education, ensuring every child is supported to re-engage positively with learning in a safe and structured environment.

The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting pupils in classroom and small group settings
* Assisting with learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
* Supporting behaviour regulation using calm, consistent approaches
* Helping to create a safe, structured and positive learning environment
* Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils
* Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience, and independence

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
* Experienced working with children or young people (school-based or transferable roles such as care, youth work, sports coaching, residential support, etc.)
* Calm, resilient, and able to remain consistent in challenging situations
* Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
* A strong communicator and team player
* Patient, empathetic, and committed to making a difference
Previous experience in SEMH, SEN, or behavioural support is highly desirable, but not essential for candidates with strong transferable skills and the right attitude.
