Overview
Due to expansion of the business, we are recruiting for an additional HGV Apprentice Mechanic.
Operating in Preston, Lancashire, Woods Fleet Support not only provides vehicle breakdown assistance and recovery locally, but nationwide, due to a widespread network of trusted sub-contractors who are individually vetted to ensure they provide the best service possible for our customers.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a company that takes pride in assisting and supporting big breakdown companies and their clients, as well as our own clientele, in assisting getting the customers back up and running with minimal delays.
Responsibilities
* Assist in diagnosing mechanical issues and performing repairs on various vehicles and machinery.
* Help with routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, inspections, and brake inspections.
* Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure safety and efficiency.
* Follow instructions from senior mechanics and participate in training sessions to enhance your skills.
* Document work performed and maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
* Basic understanding of mechanical systems is a plus, but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
* Familiarity with tools, is advantageous.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards learning new techniques.
* Strong work ethic and ability to use own initiative and common sense.
* A strong passion for mechanics and trucks
* Desire to learn and progress in the industry
* The ability to travel to and from Tarleton – own transportation ideally.
