Assistant Director – Safer & Stronger Communities
Permanent, Salary £73,896 – £82,840.
About the role: The Assistant Director supports Greater Manchester in delivering the Police and Crime Plan, Fire Plan and the Greater Manchester Strategy. You will work alongside senior leaders – Executive Director, Deputy Director and other Assistant Directors – to drive critical and innovative programmes under the Safer & Stronger Communities agenda. Your responsibilities include leading a portfolio and teams to achieve the ambitions set out in the Greater Manchester Strategy and Police & Crime Plan, building and maintaining relationships with senior colleagues across GMCA, partner agencies, and the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sectors, and developing cross‑directorate working to ensure effective delivery of the GMCA Business Plan.
Key areas of work: Gender Based Violence, Criminal Justice transformation, reduction of serious violence and knife crime, and improvement of the response to hate crime.
About you:
We are looking for a proactive leader who models positive leadership and management behaviours, can manage teams to achieve excellence, and fosters a culture of high performance. You should be able to give comprehensive and critical advice to senior managers and political leaders, be a critical thinker and strong decision maker, and possess high levels of business acumen and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across the city region. Experience in the Police, Crime, Criminal Justice, or Fire sector is desirable but not essential.
