Quantity Surveyor - Water AMP 8
Location: Bristol (Flexible Hybrid)
Duration: Long-term Outside IR35 Contract
We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team of a T1 contractor, supporting the delivery of major construction and infrastructure projects. The role will involve working as part of the commercial team on large projects or across a portfolio of smaller schemes, collaborating with project teams, clients, and supply chain partners to achieve strong financial and contractual outcomes.
You will support the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements while helping to maximise value, manage risk, and maintain positive working relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the commercial administration, reporting and performance of assigned projects
Promote and maintain a safe and compliant working environment
Support the preparation and management of subcontract documentation, including terms, conditions, pricing and programmes
Assist in the management of subcontract works packages, including interim valuations, payments and change control
Support contract administration, including the preparation and issuing of required commercial notices
Contribute to the management of change, including assisting with compensation event quotations and variations
Assist in the preparation and submission of monthly applications for payment
Support the production of monthly commercial reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
Help maintain accurate cost plans, forecasts and records of liabilities
Assist in identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
Work closely with operational, engineering and design teams to maintain accurate site records and cost control
Attend and contribute to progress, commercial and risk meetings where appropriate
Provide support to estimating and pre‑construction teams as required
About You
Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction or infrastructure sector
Working knowledge of standard forms of contract, particularly NEC
Exposure to subcontract management, valuations, variations and final accounts
Good commercial awareness with an understanding of cost, cashflow and risk
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Good IT skills, including Excel and commercial or cost management systems
A proactive, organised and professional approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities
Qualifications
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
Working towards professional membership of RICS or CIOB (desirable)
CSCS card as appropriate to role
