The job itself

Hours: 32.5 per week, Monday to Friday, term-time plus 5 training days (195 days) Permanent Contract.

This is a new role at Bridlington School created to meet the needs of our SEND and vulnerable students working exclusively within the Gateway/Junction. This provision has been established to provide learning in the Gateway for those struggling to access learning in the mainstream classroom due to behavioural barriers to learning and; students in the Junction who are typically returning from severe absenteeism.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our highly successful and dynamic inclusion team. You will join an experienced and growing team of dedicated professionals. Inclusion sits at the heart of all we do here at Bridlington School and enables our students to achieve success in reaching their hopes, ambitions and dreams no matter what their starting point. You will play a pivotal role in helping some of our students who face additional challenges to develop strong connections with the school. This is an exciting role which allows you to come alongside students and journey with them from their starting point by helping them to develop their academic and social skills as well as nurture their aspirations and ambitions.

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant in this facility, you will:

1. Work collaboratively with the Inclusion Pastoral Manager, Middle Leaders, teachers, pastoral teams, and the Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion to identify and address students’ attendance, behavioural, and learning needs.
2. Use lesson materials to develop and deliver engaging sessions aligned with departmental learning journeys, as well as bespoke interventions focused on:
3. Improving attendance and behaviour
4. Building confidence and emotional regulation
5. Developing positive learning habits
6. Track and measure outcomes from each session to monitor progress and impact, supporting reintegration into mainstream classrooms.
7. Liaise with teaching and support staff to provide tailored strategies for students during and after intervention.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to identifying needs, assessing students, and creating individual action plans.

8. Deliver one-to-one and small group sessions, adapting lessons to meet students’ abilities and the National Curriculum.
9. Provide accurate feedback and reports on attendance, engagement, progress, and behaviour.
10. Support students through key transitions between educational settings and stages.
11. Invigilate exams and tests for these students when required.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

17. Classroom-based experience and an understanding of working with students have experienced trauma or attachment difficulties.
18. A firm understanding of SEND and other barriers to learning.
19. A flexible approach and the ability to build positive relationships with young people.

Bridlington School

Bridlington School is a successful 11-18 maintained school with over 1,000 students on roll, a number which is rising year on year as our reputation as a centre of excellence grows within the local area. We have a small but thriving sixth form; the growth of this is an ambition for the school.

Students are polite, respectful and keen to learn, 49% are entitled to free school meals, 25% are also on the SEN register predominantly due to difficulties with literacy and numeracy skills.

*Term Time Salary

* Please note that if the commencement date of your employment is part way through a school year, your annual leave entitlement in your first year of employment in a term time post will be pro rata to the actual number of days worked in the school year up to 31 August. This means that payroll will adjust your pay in the first year by creating a term time adjustment that will amend pay to the correct level over the remaining months to 31 august to ensure you are not overpaid for the leave you have not accrued.
