Job Overview
We are looking to appoint a fixed‑term, locally employed Medical Registrar, based within Acute Medicine, to North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust on a full‑time basis. The role will focus on our Medical Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) services, with senior decision‑making within SDEC.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day‑to‑day care of patients under consultant supervision in Acute Medicine, focusing on Medical SDEC take.
* Lead senior clinical decision‑making and manage clinical risk.
* Participate in early senior review, ambulatory pathways and advice from referral through a single point of access hub.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support safe care and patient flow.
* Document evidence of meeting all essential criteria and complete required assessments.
Qualifications – Essential
* Full registration with the General Medical Council and licence to practice at time of application.
* Completed internal medicine Stage 1 training.
* Appropriate Foundation training and Core Training experience.
* ALS provider.
* Sound knowledge of general and acute medicine and evidence of effective application.
* Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk.
* Completed at least two years full‑time training after foundation years.
* Evidence of teaching with feedback and audit involvement.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to lead and work flexibly with colleagues, including night rota.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Post‑graduate teaching experience or qualification.
* Distinctions, prizes, awards, scholarships.
* Other higher degrees.
* MRCP.
* Sub‑specialty interest and other relevant certified courses.
* Experience in Acute Medical specialty and evidence of improvement in care through audit.
* IT skills, budget management, staff management.
* Leadership skills, 360‑degree feedback, evidence of delegation.
* Promotes equality and diversity, high ethical standards.
Training and Experience
* Accumulate appropriate Foundation and Core Training.
* Participate in unselected acute medical take on an ongoing basis.
* Keep continuous professional development and audit projects.
