The role plays a key part in keeping departmental processes running smoothly. It is well‑suited to someone with strong organisational skills who is keen to take on greater responsibility over time, build confidence in working with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and develop a solid understanding of engineering operations. Training will be provided to the successful candidate where required.
Key Responsibilities
Calibration Coordination
* Maintain and administer the departmental calibration database for in‑house equipment.
* Coordinate the collection, calibration, and return of equipment with approved external vendors.
* File and organise calibration certificates, to ensure records are complete and easy to retrieve when needed.
* Escalate issues or risks in calibration status to the wider T&D team for resolution.
Procurement & Supplier Coordination
* Support departmental purchasing activities, including raising requisitions in line with company processes.
* Track purchase orders and follow up to ensure booking forms, goods receipt, deliveries, and payments are processed in a timely manner.
* Act as a day‑to‑day point of contact with suppliers, escalating urgent issues where required.
* Develop familiarity with key suppliers and lead times to support effective planning.
* Assist with departmental stores activities, including receiving deliveries, basic inventory updates, labelling, storing, and issuing parts and consumables.
* Help coordinate the availability of parts and equipment for machine builds/repairs and test activity, including picking, kitting, and staging components.
Operational & Departmental Support
* Maintain COSHH risk assessments and ensure documentation remains current, with guidance from subject‑matter experts.
* Create plant numbers for new equipment and coordinate with Maintenance for engraving and asset registration.
* Support shipment requests for Parts & Service, including ordering and arranging deliveries.
* Maintain and update shared operational trackers
* Provide general coordination support to Test Engineers to help ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations.
Skills, experience & qualifications you will have
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple parallel tasks.
* An interest in engineering, manufacturing, or technical environments.
* Some experience or exposure to coordination, procurement, stores, or administrative support.
* Confidence communicating with a range of internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
* A proactive, problem‑solving mindset with good attention to detail.
* Willingness to learn new processes (e.g. calibration control, COSHH).
* Forklift licence is required (training can be provided, subject to medical fitness).
