Location: London Hours Per Week : Monday - Friday, 40 Hours Job Type : Permanent / Full Time The Energy & BMS Manager will: Lead the development, implementation, and optimisation of energy-saving initiatives across the estate, identifying low-cost/no-cost and capital investment opportunities. Oversee AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) systems, ensuring accurate energy data collection, analysis, quality assurance, and performance reporting. Manage energy and carbon-reduction projects from planning and mobilisation through installation, commissioning, verification, and completion. Provide technical advice to internal teams and clients on energy-efficiency measures, low-carbon technologies, and innovative sustainability solutions. Carry out site inspections, energy audits, and BMS-based performance reviews to identify inefficiencies, faults, and opportunities for improvement. Oversee the strategy, optimisation, and day-to-day performance of Building Management Systems to ensure efficient, reliable operation of HVAC, lighting, and associated controls. Analyse BMS trend data to identify energy-saving potential, performance issues, and required system re-tuning or recommissioning. Work with M&E engineers, controls specialists, and project teams to implement BMS upgrades, adjustments, or new control strategies. Ensure smooth integration of BMS and energy systems into new capital projects, including commissioning, asset information handover, and controls documentation. Prepare feasibility studies, business cases, schedules of work, cost analyses, and ROI calculations for proposed energy-efficiency measures. Manage compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations including ESOS, SECR, EPC requirements, and broader carbon-reporting frameworks. Benchmark energy performance against industry standards, ACOPs, and best-practice guidelines, ensuring continuous improvement and measurable results. Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, and contractors to ensure solutions are fit for purpose, cost-effective, and aligned with sustainability objectives. Keep abreast of relevant legislation, grant opportunities, and sector innovations to support energy and carbon-reduction goals. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing clear performance reports, recommendations, and insights. Support business development and bid teams by providing technical input into proposals and energy-related submissions. Promote a culture of sustainability and energy awareness across the contract, delivering training or guidance as required. About You Essential Criteria Degree-level qualification in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related discipline. Proven experience in identifying and delivering energy-saving opportunities, including analysis, solution development, and measurable performance improvements. Demonstrated experience managing energy or M&E projects from concept through to completion, including commissioning and verification. Strong technical understanding of BMS/BEMS operation, optimisation, controls strategies, and system performance analysis. Practical experience with mechanical and electrical building systems, including HVAC, controls, plant performance, and energy-related asset operation. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and collaborative working skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and presentations. Strong data analysis capability, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and energy-monitoring tools (e.g., AMR, metering platforms). Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across a multi-site estate. Desirable Criteria Previous experience working in an Energy Manager, BMS Engineer, Sustainability Manager, or similar technical role within FM, estates, or education sector environments. Hands-on experience with BEMS platforms, controls optimisation, fault-finding, and system commissioning. Strong understanding of AMR, eM&T systems, energy dashboards, and digital energy-monitoring technologies. Demonstrated commercial awareness, including ROI assessment, costbenefit analysis, and business case preparation. Accreditation as ESOS Lead Assessor, Low Carbon Consultant, or relevant energy/sustainability certification (e.g., CIBSE, Energy Institute, LCIBSE). Knowledge of net-zero frameworks, carbon reporting methodologies, and sector sustainability standards. Experience supporting bids, energy modelling, or technical submissions for new business or capital projects.
