Our client is one of the UK’s fastest growing value retailers. As an Assistant Buyer/Buyer Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the buying team to drive sales and profitability. Duties:
1. Cost Price Negotiations: Conduct strategic cost price negotiations with suppliers to secure the best deals while maintaining product quality.
2. Product Sourcing: Identify and source high-value clearance products from UK and European traders, wholesalers, and other suppliers to meet business needs.
3. Account Management: Manage smaller supplier accounts, fostering strong relationships and driving sales through proactive engagement.
4. Market Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and market dynamics to identify new product opportunities and sourcing strategies.
5. Stock Management: Collaborate with merchandising and supply chain teams to ensure timely stock delivery and appropriate inventory levels.
6. Data Analysis: Monitor sales performance and profitability to inform future buying decisions.
7. Supplier Relationships: Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, ensuring standards for quality, delivery, and pricing are met.
8. Administrative Support: Assist with purchase order preparation, maintain accurate records, and ensure procurement compliance.
9. Strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to drive cost efficiencies.
10. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
11. Commercial awareness of trading environments in the UK.
12. Proactive, self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative.
13. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
14. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
15. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
16. Knowledge of purchasing or retail systems is desirable.
17. Prior experience in buying, procurement, or similar roles is preferred.
18. Experience sourcing clearance products or working with UK and European suppliers is advantageous.
