Position Summary:
The Bid Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the full bid and tendering process, while also supporting the Planned Works Business Unit. The role requires a strategic, detail-focused professional capable of managing multiple stakeholders and delivering high-quality, compliant bid submissions aligned with business objectives and client requirements.
Working closely with the Business Development Manager, the Bid Manager will support business growth by identifying opportunities and producing compelling proposals that strengthen the organisation’s competitive position.
Key Responsibilities
Bid and Tender Management
* Lead and manage the end-to-end bid process, ensuring submissions are high quality, compliant, and delivered on time.
* Complete PQQs and respond to quality questions in line with client expectations.
* Manage enquiry portals and proactively identify new project opportunities.
* Produce bid summaries and support Bid/No-Bid decision meetings.
* Review ITT documents and Employer’s Requirements to define scope and scoring criteria.
* Participate in framework tender submissions where required.
Bid Development and Coordination
* Work closely with Pre-construction Managers, Project Managers, and Design Managers to understand project requirements.
* Engage operational teams early to develop methodology, programmes, tenant engagement strategies, and risk identification.
* Prepare well-structured, persuasive bid responses that clearly communicate the organisation’s value proposition.
* Develop a strong understanding of client priorities to tailor proposals and differentiate from competitors.
* Use software to produce clear and visually engaging logistics diagrams and programmes.
Bid Administration and Systems
* Maintain a comprehensive library of bid documentation, templates, and information within the CRM system.
* Manage central bid trackers to ensure accurate pipeline visibility, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
* Ensure all bid submissions include required forms, certifications, and supporting documentation.
* Track bid progress and follow up with clients and stakeholders as required.
Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
* Analyse feedback and lessons learned from completed bids and project delivery teams.
* Conduct quarterly win/loss reviews to identify trends, competitor insights, and improvement opportunities.
* Provide recommendations to improve bid quality, methodology, and scoring.
* Report regularly to Business Unit Directors and Business Development Managers on pipeline performance and win rates.
* Develop and monitor KPIs including win rate improvement, bid quality scoring, lessons learned implementation, and on-time submission performance.
Personal SpecificationKnowledge and Experience
* Ideally educated in Construction or a related discipline.
* Approximately 5–6 years’ experience in bid writing or tender management within the construction industry.
* Proven success in a Bid Writer, Bid Manager, or similar pre-construction role.
* Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Excellent organisational and project management abilities with experience managing multiple bids simultaneously.
* Strong research and analytical skills to develop persuasive and well-informed proposals.
* Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet tight deadlines.
