The practice offers comprehensive general medicalservices either directly or through local commissioning arrangements to thelocal population including:
* Contraceptive and sexual health services
* Diabetic,asthma, COPD, heart condition, stroke and other chronic illness clinics andsupport
* Maternityand health visiting services
* Carehome visiting [as part of a wider Network arrangement]TravelhealthImmunisationand vaccination clinics
The Birches Medical Centre is aGMS Practice and under the management of BARDOC Limited..
Main duties of the job
Managing a caseload and dealing with a wide range of health needsin a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for allregistered and temporary patients on the Practice list.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Qualified GP MRCGP Vocational Training Certificate or Equivalent General Practitioner;
* On Medical Performers List;
* Willing to undertake continuous personal development and ongoing mandatory training modules.
* Evidence of continued professional development;
* Experience of appraisal in practice or other healthcare setting; Additional clinical skills beyond General Practice.
Aptitude and Abilities
* Willingness to share and collaborate across entire primary health team - Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with multidisciplinary and multiagency teams Ability to work flexibly and with a facilitative approach Ability to recognise own limitations and act upon them appropriately Willingness to learn new skills and to problem solve on a daily basis An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality Ability to work within the changing structures of the NHS and work to the requirements of other regulatory bodies Excellent communication skills, recognising peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and able to respond accordingly Ability to deal with sensitive information in a tactful way
* Ability to input to strategic and practice development requirements Ability to challenge traditional models of working and to suggest improvements for change in a positive and inclusive manner
Experience
* Chronic disease management Primary prevention and screening services Clinical Governance Delivery of QOF targets Self-audit and reflection Organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork Time management: being able to prioritise work and work under pressure Computer literacy including clinical system insight, Microsoft word and email use
* Vision EMIS Web Docman Patient triage systems Service Development experience and knowledge
