Role: Contracts Engineer – Mechanical Projects Location: Walsall, West Mids. Salary: £40,000 - £44,000 P/A Benefits: 26 Days Holiday Bank Holidays, Pension, Life Assurance. An opportunity for a Contracts Engineer has become available with an established engineering business located in the Walsall area of the West Midlands. This role of Contracts Engineer has come about due to continued growth and success of the business, who are supplying their products to a range of industries, including nuclear, power generation and water. The successful contracts Engineer will play a key role in the coordination of project contracts from initial enquiry through to delivery, ensuing that technical, commercial and scheduling requirements are met. You will need a solid engineering background with excellent communication skills and experience of CAD to interpret technical drawings and assist with designs of jigs and fixtures where required. Contracts Engineer - Responsibilities: Receive and process project enquiries from customers. Break down enquiries into materials, labour, consumables, and tooling requirements. Collaborate with other departments to gather information for accurate quotations, formulate quotations and estimates. Receive and process client purchase orders as well as raise internal purchase orders for materials and subcontracted services. Review project budgets and monitor ongoing expenditure. Create detailed work packages for the shop floor. Distribute project documentation to relevant departments. Liaise with QA and Production to ensure the project is progressing as planned. Monitor, report, and record contract performance and milestones. Provide technical assistance and clarification throughout the contract lifecycle. Design and support the development of bespoke jigs and fixtures. Assist in introducing and applying new machinery and equipment into the production process. Skills & Experience Required. 3 years of experience in an engineering or technical environment. Level 3 or higher engineering qualification or relevant experience. Strong understanding of engineering principles. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Strong communication and organisational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to use 2D CAD software – AutoCAD.
