This is a unique opportunity to work within a well-established company with a worldwide client base. We manufacture a number of products for all vehicles, with the Land Rover and Motorsport industries being our main clientele. We provide a number of bespoke projects ranging from interior upholstery for vintage cars, aircraft, boats and top end vehicles to the manufacture of protective covers and cases for Motorsport. Your role will be to work with customers designing and producing bespoke vehicle interiors, including all trim, seats, headlining, carpets by using industrial sewing machines, making patterns, working to drawings and following set processes and finding solutions to any hurdles that might arise on a job.
It is essential that you are able to follow verbal and written instructions accurately, maintain high standards with good attention to detail and keep a good work ethic. You must be able to work to strict lead times for our customers & suppliers.
A suitable candidate will be trustworthy, reliable and honest with a sense of pride in their work. You must also be able to read, write and be confident with numbers. Candidate must be experienced and prepared to give training and support to any less experienced team members.
Job description
Working as part of a production team, this role will be responsible for designing, trimming and fitting bespoke vehicle upholstery. This role is responsible for:
* Discussing design ideas and requirements with clients. Trimming products to a high standard, using appropriate materials and sewing techniques.
* Ability to strip and re-fit seats and trim accurately and carefully without damaging the vehicle.
* Measuring up and making patterns in some instances when there is no previous template to follow.
* Drawing threads through needles and adjusting machine functions to meet the requirements of the project.
* Reporting any faults or discrepancies to the supervisor.
* Continuous quality control checks.
* Working to tight production schedules.
* Some moderate lifting (5-10kg).
* Cutting out & padding equipment.
* Act professionally at client appointments off-site (ie Boat trimming).
The candidate is required to have at least 5 years vehicle upholstery experience and be able to pass a short trimming test which will include the use of an industrial sewing machine.
Pay to be negotiated based on skills and experience.
