The right candidate will have a natural gift for hospitality and be able to motivate and lead a team through their passion, their example and their commitment. A big personality who can lead from the front, with a wicked eye for detail, and is a highly organised and effective people manager.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Operational Responsibilities
* Ensure a safe working and customer environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Completes accident reports promptly in the event that a customer or employee is injured.
* Manage shifts which include: daily decision making, scheduling, planning while upholding standards, product quality and cleanliness.
* Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food/drink quality and service. Respond to complaints, taking appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied customers into returning guests.
* Enforce excellent hygiene practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of bar, food prep and dining/drinking areas. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies and all legal requirements.
* Work alongside the events manager for Newport Market to ensure the smooth running of joint events.
Personnel
* Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.
* Recruitment
* Conduct staff inductions, explaining the Academy philosophy, and oversee the training of new employees.
* Develop employees by providing ongoing feedback, establishing performance expectations and by conducting performance reviews.
Personal Qualities
* Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability and outgoing.
* Ability to motivate employees to work as a team to ensure that all food and drink service meets appropriate standards.
* Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to problems.
* Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff and customers.
* Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food, beverage and labour cost while maintaining required standards of operation daily.
* Ability to determine applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Permanent
Pay: £13.30 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
