We are looking to recruit to the Virtual Health Visiting Hub which provides a centralised, single point of access for families, professionals, and partner agencies across Birmingham Forward Steps. The post‑holder plays a key role in delivering safe, effective, and timely responses to enquiries, ensuring that all contacts are appropriately triaged, managed, escalated, and documented in accordance with Trust policies, safeguarding requirements, and national guidance.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a Band Children's/paediatric nurse who will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the role supports the coordination, communication, and smooth operational flow of Hub activity, including call handling, email management, risk assessment, clinical triage, and onward referral. The post‑holder will work collaboratively with Health Visitors, administrative colleagues, Early Help partners, safeguarding teams, and wider clinical services to ensure children and families receive the right support at the right time.
The job requires excellent communication skills, sound clinical judgement, strong understanding of safeguarding principles, and a commitment to high‑quality record keeping. The post‑holder must be able to prioritise competing demands, recognise risk, and contribute to maintaining a safe, child‑centred service environment.
The role contributes to Trust priorities including the Healthy Child Programme, early intervention, integrated working, digital transformation, and improving family experience. All staff are expected to uphold BCHC values, participate in supervision and training, and support continuous service improvement across the 0-19 service.
