Job Summary
Stanhope Mews Surgery (SMW) is seeking a dedicated Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our dynamic, patient‑focused team. The HCA will support GPs, nurses, pharmacists, and allied staff in delivering high‑quality, responsive care to a patient population of approximately 16,000.

SMW is a large, well‑regarded general practice in South Kensington, holding a Care Quality Commission rating of Good across all five categories. We are proud to be an accredited teaching centre for Imperial College London and part of Brompton Health PCN.
Responsibilities
* Phlebotomy and Specimen Handling – draw blood, take and dispatch laboratory specimens to GPs, and store samples correctly for next‑day collection.
* Diagnostic Monitoring – set up ECG machines, conduct 1‑lead ECG Atrial Fibrillation screening for patients aged 55+, and operate and remove the 24‑hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor.
* Preventive Health – administer NHS Health Checks to patients aged 40‑72, support chronic disease investigation, and administer routine vaccinations and B12 injections under a Patient Specific Direction.
* Patient Education – advise patients on basic health care, minor ailments, health promotion, and illness prevention.
* Administrative Support – maintain accurate patient records, manage clinical logistics, and contribute to team workflow using the SystmOne clinical IT system.
Qualifications – Essential
* GCSE grade A–C in English and Maths.
* Care Certificate or equivalent.
* Working experience as an HCA in primary or secondary care.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Experience of diabetic checks, NHS Health Checks, phlebotomy, ECGs, and ABPM.
* Proficiency in using the SystmOne clinical IT system.
* Strong written communication skills for accurate documentation and electronic patient correspondence.
Experience – Essential
* Experience of working as an HCA in Primary or Secondary Care.
Experience – Desirable
* Experience in managing clinical logistics, such as handling and preparing laboratory specimens.
* Experience in patient education or providing advice on health promotion and illness prevention.
Salary & Contract
Hourly rate: £17 – £19 per hour, depending on experience.
Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Part‑time.
