Underwriting Support Lead
Sompo is looking for an Underwriting Support Lead to join our Insurance Operations team, based in London with a focus on supporting UK Operations locations. The role will sit within the COO function and lead the Underwriting Assistant team, driving operational resilience and service excellence.
Location
London office; minimum 3 days a week in office.
Responsibilities
* Service Management: Lead policy processing and other services for the Underwriting teams, ensuring effective alignment of UA resources with Line of Business requirements and supporting SLA discussions.
* Data Collection and Entry: Coordinate and deliver data gathering, validation and input into pricing platforms and policy administration systems.
* Documentation Management: Prepare, organise and maintain policy documentation and underwriting files using ImageRight, Guidewire, Workflow and other systems.
* Process Coordination: Coordinate with departments and outsourced providers to facilitate smooth workflow and timely processing as per SOPs.
* Issue / Query resolution: Resolve queries within established timeframes, follow up on missing documents and manage provider queries.
* Team Leadership: Motivate and develop the Underwriting Assistant team, fostering a service culture and continuous improvement mindset.
* Performance Management: Monitor team performance, provide regular updates, set goals and conduct documented performance reviews.
* Training & Development: Identify training needs and support delivery of targeted training interventions.
* Compliance Adherence: Ensure SOPs are followed, maintain controls, support audit teams.
* Reporting: Input operational data into management dashboards accurately and timely.
* Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and play a role in change/transformation activities.
