The role in a nutshell

Coaching Perspectives
is the global magazine of the Association for Coaching (AC). We are seeking a highly organized, motivated and skilled Production Coordinator to help us with the publication process. You'll manage the production process of each quarterly edition of the magazine, coordinating with writers, the editorial team, the designer and the wider AC team, across digital platforms including web and social media.

Coaching Perspectives

is published quarterly in digital format (formerly in print format too) and reaches over 11,000 readers worldwide. The magazine has already established itself as a leading voice in the coaching profession. Culturally we are a 'can do' collaborative team, supporting each other where needed with responsibilities often shared.

Our purpose is to keep individuals and organizations in the global coaching community informed of new developments, to share good practice and to promote growth within the coaching profession.

The tone and style we have set for Coaching Perspectives is to be stimulating, thought-provoking, global in reach and mindset, pioneering, progressive and accessible. Content includes practical guidance, new ideas, research, in-depth interviews and features on a wide range of activities, organizations and ventures pertinent to coaching. We seek to emphasise diverse and international perspectives in our choice of content, contributors and style.

Coaching Perspectives

reflects the AC culture and vision for coaching: a broad and inclusive one, which sees coaching as making a significant contribution to society, the world of work and the community beyond the contractual relationship and across national boundaries. Coaching does this through creating greater awareness, greater responsibility and greater understanding of the interconnectedness of organizations, business and societies in a global, networked community.

What You're Great At

This role will be a great fit if you're motivated and self-driven, organized, with high attention to detail and good project-planning and management skills. You will be an excellent communicator, and able to proactively liaise with key AC functions, authors and contributors. The role would suit someone working in print or digital publishing, or you may already have experience in digital, magazine or newspaper production and now be training in or entering the coaching field. This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your network, communicating regularly with thought leaders, academic researchers and other influential figures in the coaching profession.

What you'll be doing

Aligned with the AC values, you will be responsible for the production process of each issue of the magazine. You will be motivated to ensure all production activities are on track and driven to a timely completion. You will have a real passion for championing

Each edition of Coaching Perspectives magazine is spread over a 3-month period with publication in January, April, July and October each year. Some tasks can be done in blocks of time, most require attention weekly spread over several months, with workload peaking in December-January, March-April, June-July and September-October).

Working collaboratively and behaving with integrity, the role will cover the following:

Activities

Production process

Promotion:

Liaise with marketing team to ensure magazine themes, editions and articles are promoted on the website and social media

Planning:

Create detailed schedule for magazine production from commission to launch with deadlines for each item

·
Managing:

Monitor and manage schedule, chasing authors and editors to work to deadlines

·
Liaison:

Liaise with designer and AC teams.

Pre-magazine layout

·
Advertising

. Liaising with AC Marketing Team re. internal and external advertisements

·
Copy

. Make sure all assets and copy are in; chase contributors for final items/queries/elements/rewriting; collate all copy ready for designer

·
Flatplan.

Create a flatplan for each edition

Marketing design phase

·

Collate all copy and images; write design brief and send all items to the designer

·

Coordinate running order/adverts

·

Receive PDF from designer, share with editorial team and receive and collate all their comments and amendments; send these to the sub editor for actioning and corrections

·

Write contents page.

Post magazine Layout and Launch

·

Prep and upload the digital edition of the magazine, working with Exact Editions - our publishing platform

·

Write/prepare email communications for AC release and website update, liaising with AC website manager and AC comms lead person

·

Email contributors with PDFs post-launch; send various assets to various people; all post-launch mop-up and corrections to digital edition responding to feedback from contributors and readers

Administration

·

Arrange, coordinate and minute Editorial Team meetings (4 per year) and Editorial Board meetings (approx. 2 per year)

·

Manage the Coaching Perspectives editor inbox, answering/redirecting emails as needed

·

General editorial support for the team

·

Organize Dropbox and Trello so all files and record of tasks are accessible by the whole team

·

Maintain a database of contributors

·

Liaise with other AC teams as needed

·

Any other duties as required

Skill Requirements

High attention to detail, project-planning and management skills. You act with commitment to ethical production (accessibility, respect for copyright) and you have a love of, and high standards for, written English.

You have a global outlook and an appreciation of other cultures.

You are open, responsive, and can adapt and flex. You are available to react to incoming work and you are skilled at following-up promptly, finding solutions, handling issues and resolving them quickly.

Being at the core of the implementation activities, you have excellent organization, prioritisation and time-management skills to be able to meet timelines and work with others to make things happen. You'll enjoy the challenge of organizing workflows and you'll have a proactive approach to suggesting process improvements and automation.

You are adaptable to new digital systems and processes. You can jump right into any digital application and learn your way around. You may have experience with publishing software such as Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe InDesign, though these are not essential.

You are motivated by working within a collaborative team where consistent delivery is crucial. You are happy to work on your own as well as part of a team, you have respect for and a collegiate style with fellow team members.

You are interested in the coaching profession and the field of self-development.

Rate and Hours

This role would be great addition to a freelance/part-time portfolio. We are seeking a self-employed candidate available to work up to 66 hours per edition, at a rate of £18 per hour for an initial 6-month contract. Following a successful 6-month period and review, the contract could be extended. We are ideally looking for an individual who can start from 15 November 2025.

We are a virtual team, and you will need to be familiar with communication technologies to facilitate virtual working, for example VoIP (eg Zoom). You will also need excellent general computer skills with a working knowledge of MS Office applications, for example Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as task management systems (eg Trello) and file management using Cloud services (eg Dropbox and Dropbox Paper). We're always considering how AI applications can be ethically and securely integrated into our workflows to improve productivity while maintaining the highest standards.
