Housekeeper UK Resilience Academy, York, YO61 3EG 25 hours per week, 5 over 7 days (some weekend working may be required ) £15,916.65 plus Serco Benefits Serco have a great opportunity for a Housekeeper to join the team at the UK Resilience Academy in York. In this crucial role, you will support all internal and external facing academy deliveries, by executing cleaning duties to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Working independently or in a team cleaning all designated areas, ensuring facilities such as bathrooms, bedrooms and offices are cleaned and maintained to the highest standard. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who demonstrates a proactive mindset and possesses a strong “can-do” attitude, approaching challenges with determination and a commitment to achieving results. Main Accountabilities: Cleaning walls, floors, furniture and fittings by use of manual and electrically powered tools and equipment. Activities include dusting, sweeping, mopping and vacuuming in accordance with work schedule. Understand and comply with the cleaning schedules which will direct which areas which are to be cleaned in the course of duty, service specifications & cleaning frequencies. Ensure all areas are cleaned efficiently and in a timely manner to the required standards. Have full working knowledge of all cleaning equipment, materials and agents and use cleaning equipment as directed by your line manager only after correct COSHH training has been given. Report any equipment which is faulty, mark as faulty and do not use. Report any safety hazards or inappropriate compromises to the Housekeeping Supervisor e.g. Locked fire door, lifting flooring, lights not working etc. Ensure that the specified safety signage is used at all times, e.g. wet floor signs and “warn/advise” customers where possible. To be aware of material expenditure and cost and avoid unnecessary waste. Ensure that cleaning stores are kept clean and tidy and equipment stored safely at all times. Comply with all security regulations for cleaning materials, equipment and buildings as laid down by client and Serco and report immediately any shortages or discrepancies found. Ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance and general cleanliness to comply with statutory and Company regulations, wearing company uniform as specified for all of the team. Inform the supervisor of low levels of cleaning material stocks where appropriate so that new supplies can be re-ordered. Ensure that in her absence that they are re-ordered. To deal with any complaints by immediately reporting them to the supervisor. Attend training courses and meetings as is necessary to maintain standards in the contract and assist in carrying g out the job role efficiently. Provide cover when necessary in other areas in times of sickness and holidays. Ensure all cleaning equipment is kept clean & maintained in safe working order. Report any defects to the supervisor immediately, and put out of use if required. Comply with all Company policies procedures and client site rules and regulations. Comply with all Company & client policies and statutory regulations relating to Health & Safety, safe working practices, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards in your work place. Carry out all other reasonable tasks as directed by management. What you’ll need to do the role: Educated to secondary level. Good basic standard of literacy and numeracy in order to support communication in a diverse environment, and understanding of time and attendance. Certificates, qualification or training in relevant areas of Health and Safety – in particular COSHH but also general risk assessment, manual handling and first aid – would be advantageous but not essential. Proper and safe use of cleaning agents and chemicals and cleaning equipment Additional Information Availability and flexibility with regards to delivering operations on a site that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To work approximately 25 hours a week as required, including some weekends. (Working hours will be within Working Time Regulations).
