SEND Specialist Teacher – QTVI

Halifax

£275 per day

Full time. Until the end of the academic year

Reed FE is delighted to be supporting a local authority SEND service to recruit a SEND Specialist Teacher – Qualified Teacher of Children and Young People with Vision Impairment (QTVI).

The Role

As a SEND Specialist Teacher (QTVI), you will work across a range of schools and educational settings to provide specialist assessment, teaching, advice, and training. You will play a key role in promoting inclusive practice, building capacity within mainstream settings, and ensuring that children and young people receive the right support at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

* Undertake specialist assessments for children and young people with vision impairment and complex SEND
* Deliver and model high-quality, evidence-based specialist teaching
* Provide advice, coaching, and training to teachers and support staff
* Support schools to develop inclusive curricula and effective SEND pedagogy
* Contribute to Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments and reviews
* Build strong working relationships with schools, families, and multi-agency partners
* Support and line manage SEND Specialist Outreach staff where appropriate
* Contribute to service development, data reporting, and quality assurance
* Uphold safeguarding, equality, and professional standards at all times

Person Specification

Essential:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* Mandatory postgraduate qualification in Vision Impairment (QTVI)
* Significant experience working with children and young people with SEND / MSI
* Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice
* Excellent communication and report-writing skills
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.

Reed Further Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment by completing mandatory training within 6 weeks of your first assignment and annually thereafter.
