Role and Team

Due to continued growth of our traded and commissioned services, required from January 2025 or earlier, we are seeking to appoint outstanding and creative Specialist Teachers who are highly experienced at meeting the needs of children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. You will have extensive knowledge of SEMH implications for individuals, relevant experience of working with parents and other professionals, and a track record of effective teamwork, including multidisciplinary collaboration.

In this role you will work as part of the Solihull Specialist Inclusion Support Service (SISS) SEMH Team. SISS is a high quality, valued local service working closely with Solihull’s maintained schools, academies and settings to support children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs. Within the SEMH team you will be allocated a number of schools, both primary and secondary, and you will support the educational development and inclusion of the children referred to the team.

The SEMH Team provides a traded service to schools. The work will involve a variety of scenarios including: individual work, small group interventions, supporting the development of whole-school approaches to SEMH, and delivering training to a range of audiences. The team also supports children and young people through commissioned pathways such as pupils at risk of exclusion via the SEMH High Needs pathway, looked after children, and children and young people with EHC plans.

Responsibilities

As part of the SEMH Team you will:

* Deliver individual and group interventions to support SEMH needs.
* Contribute to whole-school approaches to SEMH and staff training.
* Collaborate with schools, parents, and professionals within multidisciplinary teams.
* Support pupils on commissioned pathways (e.g., at risk of exclusion, looked after, EHC plan holders).
* Travel around the Borough of Solihull to support schools and pupils on caseload.

Employment Conditions and Benefits

In return, we offer the opportunity to develop your experience and skills within a supportive, professional working environment with a range of excellent benefits including:

* Flexible working arrangements.
* Access to our Employee Assistance Programme – a 24-hour independent, free and confidential advice and support service.
* Family and carer friendly policies.
* Access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.
* Employee benefits including staff discounts, subsidised travel passes and Cycle 2 Work Scheme.

You will be expected to travel around the Borough of Solihull supporting the schools, children and young people on your caseload. This is an essential car user post with a contractual requirement to provide a suitable vehicle to carry out the role effectively. Applicants must be able to drive, have a driving licence and be a car owner; reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled applicants where required.

Requirements

This post requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check for regulated activity with children.

You will find that we are an exceptionally supportive service to work for and working with us is both enjoyable and rewarding.

Working Pattern and Application

Full time 35 hours per week. Although this post is advertised as full time, applications for part-time and job share will be considered.
