Role Details:
The Civil Engineer will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team within the Approving Authority, the primary purpose of the role is to directly support current operations and future programmes. Supporting nuclear facilities & the delivery of services across both sites.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage and maintain Clyde Nuclear Infrastructure design substantiation documents.
2. Lead design change/concession assessments and approvals
3. Present design cases to nuclear safety committees
4. Develop and maintain EIMT schedules and procedures
5. Produce and review Periodic Safety Reports
6. Provide technical advice to internal and external stakeholders
7. Conduct Independent Technical and Peer Reviews (ITA/IPR)
8. Apply engineering knowledge to integrate new and existing technologies
9. Support full lifecycle of nuclear systems in high-risk environments
10. Justify civil/structural design modifications in safety-critical settings
Key Requirements:
Essential:
11. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design assessment of reinforced concrete and steelwork structures to withstand dynamic loads including; earthquake motions, blast, wind, rain and snow loading.
12. Experience of producing robust technical justification to allow for relevant civil/structural design modifications to be authorised within a high hazard industry.
13. Use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology.
Desirable:
14. Ideal candidates would already have experience within a nuclear environment, but this is not essential.
15. Apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate, maintain, decommission and re-cycle engineering processes, systems, services and products in a nuclear/high risk environment.
16. Familiarity with safety case development techniques e.g. HAZID/HAZOP studies.
17. Experience working on related concrete and steelwork structures in a marine environment or similar.
Qualifications:
18. Civil / Structural Engineering degree
19. Incorporated Engineer (or equivalent experience)
Desirable:
20. Chartered Engineer (or equivalent experience)
