Purpose:

In RSSL we are customer focused, science led and results driven. The RSSL Food Sciences laboratory performs a wide range of analytical analyses for a variety of food, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies and supports Mondelez research and innovation.

The role at Technician is to be responsible for performing a range of routine activities to support effective completion of analyses and meet the customer’s contractual agreements. Perform lab admin and housekeeping activities, log samples, sample preparation, basic routine analysis and work in accordance with the UKAS and Mondelez quality standards within Food Sciences laboratories.

The position will be primarily based at the Reading although may require attendance of any of the RSSL sites.

Primary Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

Technical

1. Provide high quality customer service at all times by ensuring effective organisation of assigned workload, integrity of analytical data generated and timely/accurate provision of results.

2. Perform a range of basic routine tasks and sample preparation under supervision of a senior member of staff.

3. Operate basic lab equipment as directed.

4. Be competent in the use of generic and specific software packages required for the role: Laboratory’s LIMS system, Q-Pulse, etc

5. Provide training in routine activities. Perform Lab admin and housekeeping duties as directed. Will be expected to work in different laboratories if the demand is required.

Communication & Influence

6. Work as part of an efficient analytical team

QEHS

7. Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed.

8. To complete assigned quality actions on a timely manner

9. To maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.

10. To understand and work to the requirements of GMP and Mondelez.

11. Ensure training records are accurate.

14. Proactively identifying problems and assisting in creating and implementing solutions

15. Maintaining equipment to ensure they are always operable

16. Applying your technical understanding of equipment to support laboratory operations

17. Recording and reporting data and activity outcome accurately

18. Working in laboratories

19. Relevant industry and/or academic experience
