Surrey Liaison and Diversion Service and Reconnect Team are seeking to recruit a caring Peer Support Worker with lived experience of mental health, criminal justice system, or substance misuse to join our team.
Our passionate service supports individuals who have come into contact with the youth and criminal justice system through a caring, compassionate, and person-centered approach. This includes vulnerability screening and assessment for all individuals above the age of 10, as well as providing high-quality community-based interventions aimed at improving health and social care outcomes and reducing re-offending.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues to provide much-needed lived experience peer support. Your role will be community-based, working alongside our Assertive Outreach Team and Reconnect Team. You will be required to travel during working hours, and the role covers the Surrey area. A full driving license is required. Our Peer Support Workers work between 09:00 and 17:00, providing one-to-one support tailored to the service user's environment and needs. This support focuses on strategies to manage activities of daily living, such as self-care, caring for their home, pursuing leisure activities, and accessing healthcare.
You will assume a 'coaching' role within the multidisciplinary team (MDT), supporting vulnerable individuals to develop personal recovery and resettlement plans. You will model and mentor recovery processes and demonstrate coping skills using your own experience of recovery. Sharing personal lived experience is essential in building safe, trusting relationships with service users.
Our Liaison and Diversion Service is committed to developing practitioners by offering opportunities for continued professional development and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
