The role:
In this role you will support procurement activities associated with the packages/sub-projects (over £100m) and with support from the Lead Quantity Surveyor act as the key commercial representative providing guidance on commercial and contract management considerations and advising on contract options and budget estimates, including risk & contingency allowances.
Responsibilities:
You'll be responsible for the quality assurance of construction contracts, including maintaining accurate contractor data records, providing commercial and contract management support, guidance and coaching to the project delivery team and ensure contractor costs are robustly managed across your package.
You'll ensure contract compliance through effective contract management activities including monitoring of spend against agreed budgets, KPIs and other metrics. Helping your project team develop and maintain cost forecasts will be a key responsibility.
You'll produce all necessary contract forms such as valuations and payment recommendations and instructions and communications for the assigned project, leading on providing independent reviews and advice on variations and compensation events, supporting any escalation procedures and dispute avoidance and resolution processes.
You'll build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, including Project Managers, Planners, Accountants, Operational colleagues and other specialists, contractors, and colleagues in procurement, regulation and legal teams, reaching out to senior stakeholders for assistance when it is needed.
Requirements:
Experience of delivering several projects already and be able to demonstrate experience of contract and commercial management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and procurement.
Experience of working as a QS on construction projects and an understanding of NEC4 contracts (Option A, C and E).
Ideally you have experience on infrastructure projects
