Electricity Distribution - Network Technician
An opportunity is available for a Network Technician based at our Crewkerne depot.
You will be responsible to the Team Manager for constructing, maintaining, and repairing the underground and overhead network up to 66kV. Additionally, you will program and monitor work colleagues, switch up to 66kV, issue safety documentation, and perform other technician duties.
You must have grade A*-C/4-9 GCSEs in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 in both. You also need a City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
Evidence of your qualifications will be required before appointment.
Main Responsibilities
* Network operations including issuing Limitations of Access and Permit to Work safety documents up to 66kV
* Constructing distribution substations, overhead lines, and installing plant. Laying and jointing cables up to 11kV
* Repairing and replacing faulty or obsolete plant, cables, and overhead lines
* Recording asset routes, details, and positions
Ideal Candidate
You should be able to work independently and as part of a small team, making decisions on the spot. Good communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines are essential. You will need to train as an SAP and be mobile within the area to undertake standby duties as part of the team rota.
If not already achieved, you will be required to undertake a Level 3 City & Guilds 2339 qualification.
*Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until training is completed.
Operationally, you must live within approximately 30 minutes of the depot you are applying for.
