SENIOR MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT - FULL TIME - WASHINGTON, TYNE & WEAR

The Role:

The Senior Management Accountant will play a key part in managing the month-end close process, managing a team to deliver accurate information in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will be commercially minded and analytical, with the ability to build strong relationships across the business.

Here's a breakdown of what you'll be doing:

* Prepare monthly management accounts across areas of responsibility with accountability for monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
* Work alongside Finance Business Partners to deliver insightful variance analysis and commentary against budget, forecast, and prior year. Ensure timely, accurate reporting is distributed to relevant budget holders.
* Support the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Support the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts in collaboration with department heads and FP&A team.
* Support the FP&A team by providing financial insight for commercial decisions. Ensure accuracy of data provided.
* Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting tools, and systems.
* Support ERP and BI system enhancements and ensure data integrity across platforms.
* Automate processes and streamline workflows to improve efficiency.
* Ensure strong internal controls.
* Work alongside Group Reporting Manager to ensure accounting standards are followed appropriately.
* Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as required.
* Assist with tax and statutory reporting where applicable.
* Lead and mentor direct reports. Set clear objectives and regularly discuss performance.

Who we're looking for:

* Strong communication skills. Able to articulate complex items in an easy to understand, digestible way.
* Ability to implement new controls / processes where appropriate across a fast-paced business.
* Commercially focused with strong analytical thinking.
* Proactive and solutions oriented.
* Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
* Excellent planning and organisation skills.
* Exceptional attention to detail and focus on quality.

Qualifications:

* Fully qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA)- 3 years plus PQE.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in management accounting, ideally within retail, fashion, or FMCG.
* Solid understanding of relevant accounting standards (Group reports under FRS 102) and multi-currency consolidations.
* Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
* Strong understanding of multi-channel business models and inventory accounting.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
