The Casual Academy Coach will be responsible for delivering high-quality coaching sessions in line with Barnsley FC’s Academy Coaching Curriculum. The role supports the development of young players through age-appropriate training and matchday activities, aligned with the Club’s coaching and playing philosophies. This position requires a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with a commitment to continuous development and a collaborative approach to working within a multi-disciplinary team. Key duties & responsibilities • Deliver coaching sessions that reflect the Academy’s Coaching Curriculum and Club philosophies • Adapt activities to suit individual and group needs across age phases • Liaise with Lead Phase Coaches to support player transition between age groups • Implement Academy Performance Plan (APP) policies and practices to meet desired outcomes • Comply with EPPP and Football League rules in training and matchday delivery • Integrate multi-disciplinary input into planning and delivery (e.g. sports science, education) • Meet EPPP requirements for planning, reporting, and data entry into the PMA system • Attend and contribute to departmental meetings and CPD events • Support and lead football activities including: • Periodisation of coaching blocks • Game planning and preparation • Coaching and match evaluation, including post-match analysis • Create and manage Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) in consultation with relevant departments • Deliver coaching hours in line with the ‘coaching working week’ model, managing intensity and recovery • Achieve a minimum of 5 hours CPD annually to maintain UEFA B/A qualification • Engage with personal development plans aligned with the Head of Coaching framework • Implement academy playing and coaching strategies into sessions and games • Support early and late developers within squad management • Review performance data and reports to identify player development and progression • Work within the player competency framework to ensure alignment with Club objectives • Participate in CPD activities organised by the Club and other providers. • Undertake any other tasks relevant to the whole-club ethos. • This job description is not intended to be exhaustive, and the post holder is also required to undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required, appropriate to the level of the post.
