Offer description

Cardiothoracic Theatres are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Band 6 Theatre Practitioner. We are looking for a qualified Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with cardiothoracic theatre experience who is eager to become part of a dedicated and professional team. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality patient care and are committed to ongoing personal and professional development.

The Cardiothoracic Theatre Suite comprises three operating theatres specializing in both Cardiac and Thoracic surgery. We perform advanced heart and lung cancer surgeries, including Minimally Invasive Heart Valve Surgery, Video-Assisted, and Robotic Lobectomies.

The Cardiothoracic unit at The James Cook University Hospital serves as a regional centre for a population of 1.5 million, covering areas from Whitehaven in Cumbria to North Yorkshire, Teesside, and Durham. It is the UK's leading centre for the Mini Mitral trial, the largest of its kind globally. The unit is also a key centre for lung cancer treatment and part of the Cancer Care Alliance of Teesside, South Durham, and Yorkshire.

Operating Monday to Friday, Cardiothoracic Theatres require an on-call commitment to provide 24-hour service, which attracts additional pay.
