Sexual Health Nurse

Job responsibilities
Provide specialist nursing contribution to clinical management of patients with sexual health needs; work autonomously and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals. Support Nurse Triage, undertake contraceptive, GUM and young persons clinical sessions and operate within agreed protocols and patient group directions. Clinically responsible for whole patient episode of care, including follow-up, and provide continuing care for a defined caseload. Manage and treat patients presenting with contraception and sexually transmissible infections.
Qualifications
* First level Registered Nurse
* Relevant qualification in contraception/GUM, or willingness to undertake a recognised qualification within two years of commencement
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Mentorship qualification or relevant experience
* Teaching qualification or relevant experience
Experience
* Insertion & removal of contraceptive implants, or willingness to complete training within 2 years
* Ability to work across boundaries in a flexible manner
* Experience of working with computers
* Experience of working with PGDs
* Experience working in sexual health services
* Ability to fit and remove intrauterine devices, if required, as the service develops
Knowledge
* Understanding of clinical governance
* Knowledge of all aspects of sexual health
* Knowledge of local and national sexual health strategies and policies
Skills and Aptitudes
* Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills
* Non-judgemental attitude
* Proven ability to respond to pressure and prioritise workload
* Experience of working with young people

Salary
£32,073 to £48,117 per annum, pro rata (Band 5 / 6).
