Job Overview

A Vacancy at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an 10 PA substantive post in community adult psychiatry based in Peterborough with the Peterborough Adult Locality team (PALT) and the primary care mental health service (PCMH). The post is based in Peterborough City centre (Town hall) but will require flexible outreach to Huntingdon and Fenland localities (averaging once a week). The post will share clinical leadership of the service with the South AO consultant and will cross cover during periods of leave. It will also hold close links with CMHT community consultant colleagues in PALT, HALT, FALT and CAMEO.

The post holder will be supported by existing senior substantive consultants within the North. There is an excellent network of wider consultant support in Peterborough with weekly academic meetings and the opportunity to join a well‑established consultant peer group for adult consultants in the North.

The post holder would be encouraged to be both a clinical and educational supervisor for trainees.

The post will incorporate a prorate amount of Supporting professional activities (SPA) for the standard CPFT WTE split of 7.5 Direct clinical care to 2.5 SPA. This equates to 6 DCC and 2 SPA.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust is a health and social care organisation dedicated to providing high‑quality care with compassion to improve the health and wellbeing of the people we care for, as well as supporting and empowering them to lead a fulfilling life.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide clinical expertise and leadership to the North Assertive Outreach team, working clinically with patients under the care of the team and in partnership with wider Cambridge and Peterborough health and social care system partners to best meet the needs of those with potential AO needs.
* Provide psychiatric input and clinical leadership to the management of patients referred to the service for treatment with severe and complex psychosis, delivering ongoing treatments that are evidence‑based, supported by NICE guidelines and maintain a biophysiological approach.
* Be a trailblazer for Assertive Outreach in the wider Cambridge and Peterborough health care system, providing advice and expertise into the system‑wide enhanced MDT for those with potential AO needs and continuing leadership to the development of the full psychosis pathway.
* Maintain Section 12(2) status and Approved Clinician status, and have a comprehensive awareness of Mental Health, Mental Capacity and Care Act legislation. Participate in Mental Health Act assessments when possible and act as the Responsible Clinician for patients on supervised community treatment orders.
* Commit to a multidisciplinary approach to care and actively contribute to MDT and formulation meetings, working in close collaboration with team members, care coordinators, other CPFT services, third sector and statutory agencies and primary care colleagues as required for community patients.
* Provide opportunities for both clinical work (including consultations, advice and guidance) and supporting professional activities to be conducted remotely using video consultation software.
* Lead in developing and evaluating meaningful KPIs and clinical outcome measures for the service, participate in clinical governance activities and contribute to the day‑to‑day management and overall service development agenda through collaboration with managerial and clinical colleagues.
* On‑call duty: join the North Consultant rota with a frequency of approximately 1 in 21. The rota is supported by two tiers of trainees at higher and core levels. On‑calls are currently banded as Category A.
