Overview Senior Theatre Practitioner – Orthopaedic
Location: Northwood
Salary: Up to £43,000 per year

Role Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Theatre Practitioner with a specialism in Orthopaedics to join a high-performing theatre team within a well-established independent healthcare provider.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled practitioner looking to take on a senior role, combining clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities in a modern and supportive theatre environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare and manage specialist orthopaedic instrumentation and equipment, including power tools, implants, and navigation systems, in line with surgical protocols
Provide expert support to surgical and anaesthetic teams, anticipating requirements and responding effectively to intraoperative changes
Take a lead role in theatre preparation, coordinating surgical lists and ensuring appropriate staffing, equipment, and resources are in place
Support the Theatre Manager with team coordination, briefings, scheduling, stock control, and patient flow
Supervise and support junior theatre practitioners, ODPs, and healthcare assistants, providing guidance and clinical oversight
Identify, escalate, and contribute to the management of clinical and operational risks, including participation in audits and incident reviews
Work collaboratively with consultants, anaesthetists, recovery teams, and ward staff to ensure continuity of care and an excellent patient experience
Requirements
Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)
Significant perioperative experience with a strong focus on orthopaedic surgery
Proven experience supporting a wide range of orthopaedic procedures, including complex cases
Previous experience in a senior or team lead role within a theatre setting
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
Comprehensive understanding of clinical governance, infection prevention, and patient safety
Orthopaedic experience is essential
