An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic HCA to join our friendly team in Paediatric Outpatients.
This is a varied role, it includes working on our reception desk where you will welcome families, book appointments, amongst other associated administrative duties, required by our team of Consultants and Specialist Nurses. You will also be responsible for recording observations for children before their appointment.
The HCA assists in ensuring the effective running of the department.
You will be accountable for your own practice while supporting the registered nurse by caring for patients and delivering high standards of care.
This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role-specific criteria. For example, applicants for the Senior HCA role must be able to evidence a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same role to qualify for sponsorship.
If this role is not sponsorable, and you are applying using a Graduate visa as your right to work, you must have a minimum of 18 months remaining on your visa at time of application.

· To participate in the use of IT within the department.

· Taking and recording of temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height and weight on instruction from the consultant/nurse. Recording the results appropriately and reporting any abnormalities to Consultant/Nurse in Charge.

· To demonstrate an awareness of different cultural, ethnic and religious needs.
· Act in ways which support equality and value diversity.
· Attend mandatory training updates as required.
· Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and as agreed with the line manager as part of the personal development process.
· Achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.
For this role it is essential that you have previous NHS or NHS primary care experience with a Care Certificate from an Ofqual regulated awarding organisation. Or that you are an internationally educated nurse/midwife/doctor who has worked in an acute hospital setting within recent years with evidence of your degree verified by an ENIC report.

Essential criteria
2. NHS experience or NHS primary care experience is required or an internationally educated nurse/midwife/doctor who has worked in an acute hospital setting within recent years
3. Care Certificate from a Ofqual regulated awarding organisation.
4. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills acquisition, working at a higher-level standard of care delivery, equivalent to vocational qualification level 3. This is evidenced via a portfolio of practice and/or professional discussion.
5. Good written and spoken English – able to communicate clearly and succinctly to patients and colleagues Legible handwriting and able to maintain accurate documentation Able to work effectively as part of a team Able to empathise and communicate with sensitivity
6. Able to make basic judgements, assessments and evaluations involving patient care, some requiring analysis; resolving day-to-day issues and escalating to senior colleagues if required
7. Computer / keyboard skills, sufficient to send/receive emails, document activities electronically, eg. In Electronic Patient Record

8. Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support or Health and Social Care or relevant equivalent
9. Level 2 apprenticeship standard in Clinical Healthcare Support, Health & Social Care or relevant equivalent qualification

11. Maths GCSE (grade C or above or grade 4 to 9) or Maths Level 2 functional skills English GCSE (grade C or above or grade 4 to 9) or English Level 2 Functional skills
12. Completed training and had experience with service specific Senior HCA extended scope of practice skills, such as; venepuncture, ECGs, simple wound dressings
13. A good working knowledge of the Care Certificate standards
