In-House Solicitor
Edinburgh
Lucrative salary + excellent benefits package
The Role & The Work
This is an In-House Solicitor position within a busy legal department, supporting a national network of Councils, Committees and entities across Scotland.
Working as part of a close-knit team of solicitors, you'll be a trusted adviser across a genuinely diverse range of legal matters, providing the kind of practical, well-reasoned guidance that allows a complex national organisation to operate with confidence.
Your caseload will be varied. On any given day you might be advising on a contentious dispute, attending court, working through a complex disciplinary investigation, or negotiating a commercial contract with a third-party supplier. You'll provide employment law advice to local bodies and national committees alike, drafting contracts, policies and guidance that support staff at every level of the organisation.
Compliance and governance sit at the heart of much of what this department does, and you'll play an active role in helping the organisation navigate its responsibilities as a major Scottish institution.
The work is substantive, the issues are often complex, and the clients, whether a small local body or a national committee, all depend on advice that is clear, accurate and delivered with care.
This is also a role with real room to grow. You'll be encouraged to develop your expertise across subject areas you may not yet have encountered, supported by colleagues who understand that breadth is built over time.
If employment law or commercial law isn't yet a strength, that's not a barrier; we would love to hear from you regardless.
