We are looking for a highly organised and proactive individual to join the Ophthalmology team in the Macular Suite at Amersham Hospital as a Booking Coordinator/Administrative Support. This part-time role is offered on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity cover for 12 months.
The postholder will play a vital role in coordinating patient bookings, supporting smooth clinic operations, and providing essential administrative support to the Macular Suite team. You will be a key point of contact for patients and colleagues, helping to ensure an efficient and supportive service within a busy clinical environment.
Main duties of the job
As an essential member of the Ophthalmology Department, you will play a key role in delivering a highly efficient patient booking and administrative service within the Macular Suite.
This busy role requires accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in appointment scheduling and data entry, where precision is crucial. You will act as a first point of contact for patient enquiries, providing clear, empathetic, and professional communication, while also liaising effectively with clinicians, consultants, and their teams.
Strong IT skills are essential, as the role involves significant computer work and maintaining accurate patient records in line with hospital procedures. You will also provide wider administrative support to the clinical team, including preparing documents, managing correspondence, and handling general office tasks. The ability to remain calm under pressure, work sensitively with patients and their relatives, and maintain a professional and supportive approach at all times is vital.
