Role Overview
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing process for building and engineering projects. The role requires a strong balance of commercial awareness, supplier management, and operational support to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Duties
Supplier Management
1. Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors
2. Negotiate contracts, prices, and delivery schedules to maximise value
3. Identify and onboard new suppliers to support business growth
Purchasing & Logistics
4. Raise, process, and track purchase orders to align with project requirements
5. Monitor stock levels and deliveries to avoid project delays
6. Resolve discrepancies in supply, quality, or invoicing
Financial Oversight
7. Support accurate budget forecasting and cost monitoring
8. Conduct bench marking and market analysis to identify savings
9. Recommend improvements to reduce spend without reducing quality
Collaboration & Support
10. Liaise with engineers, project managers, and commercial teams to align procurement needs
11. Share updates on supplier performance and supply chain risks
12. Assist with planning for upcoming projects and tender submissions
Governance & Reporting
13. Ensure all procurement activity follows company policy and compliance standards
14. Maintain up-to-date records of contracts, supplier agreements, and transactions
Candidate Profile
15. Previous experience in procurement or buying within engineering, construction, or M&E environments
16. Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
17. Proven ability to work within budget and meet tight deadlines
18. Commercially aware with excellent communication and organisational skills
