What Is the Opportunity?
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Coach to join our London office.
As a Cyber Breach Coach Lawyer, you will sit within Travelers Legal, our in house law firm and provide valuable assistance to both Travelers Legal Counsel as well as individuals in the BSI Claim team. You will also play a pivotal role in advising clients on legal strategies during cyber incidents, ensuring compliance with regulations, and minimizing legal risks. You will work closely with cybersecurity experts, IT teams, and business leaders to develop comprehensive breach response plans and provide real-time guidance during cyber crises.
You will also be supporting the operational and tactical management of our Cyber Claims portfolio. You will manage a portfolio of Cyber Claim files and also provide supervision, technical and strategic direction to Claims Professionals managing assigned Cyber Claims. You will conduct file reviews to ensure that claims are handled to an acceptable standard that is aligned to the Enterprise best practices and regulatory requirements. Working closely with Business Partners to communicate details of significant losses, reserve changes and claim trends.
This role does not currently manage others but the individual is expected to have an active role in providing feedback and direction to Senior Claim Professionals and be an active contributor in assessing performance of our Claim Professionals.
Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.
What Will You Do?
Lead and manage cyber breach response efforts, providing legal advice and strategic direction
Work with business partners to promote the cyber proposition to brokers and customers
Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals to assess breach impact and develop mitigation strategies
Ensure compliance with data protection laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and others
Draft and review incident response policies, procedures, and communication plans
Conduct post-breach analysis to identify legal risks and recommend improvements
Provide training and workshops to clients on cyber risk management and legal preparedness
Work with Head of Central or Complex Claim and Claim Managers to ensure implementation and delivery of individual, case-specific file strategies to drive optimal outcomes on every cyber claim file
Attendance at Joint Settlement Meetings and other file resolution meetings, accompanying the claim professional or attending as the sole TRV representative with the Legal team
Assist Head of Central or Complex Claims in developing new monthly reporting on significant cyber claim activity split by Business Function
Responsibility for communicating Central Claim Review (CCR) or Technical Claim Committee (TCC) minutes and, where applicable, reserve range probability to actuarial and finance
Establish new protocols for pre-trial CCR/TCC meetings and daily updates to claim management as a trial is in session
Conduct an independent monthly QM review of the claim portfolio, providing feedback on results to the Head of Central or Complex Claims, and complete focused QM file reviews when required
Using observations from CCR/TCC attendance, referrals, and QM process results, identify any training and/or coaching requirements for claim and senior claim professionals
Develop an enhanced communication process to Business Partners for new claim notices with significant reserve or claim trend potential
Assess the performance and suitability of TRV's legal panel through the service and advice offered on the Central portfolio; provide feedback to Claim Legal and ensure TRV receives the best service available
Work with the Head of Central or Complex Claims to enhance Management Information to assist cyber claim analysis and provide Business Partners with operational data to support pricing and risk selection
Act as the main point of contact for business partners on updates for case-specific developments on the Central portfolio
Actively manage the most significant Cyber claims
Provide additional support to claim professionals to assist in investigating, evaluating, and resolving all claims in the portfolio
Responsibility and oversight of the claim watchlist process; work closely with Actuaries to ensure strong communication around quarterly watchlist developments and participation in discussions on IBNR requirements
Work closely with senior claim professionals on assessment of watchlist cases to provide a case-specific numeric assessment feeding into the quarterly IBNR process

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
Experience/Knowledge of Lloyd's of London Market
Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII).

What is a Must Have?
A qualified solicitor, barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with a practicing certificate is required and/or relevant qualifications and UK market experience.
Thorough knowledge of Cyber products business products and services and the Lloyd's of London Insurance market.
Degree (or equivalent) and qualified solicitor, barrister or Chartered Legal Executive required.
