Deputy PACS Manager
Permanent - Band 7, Full Time
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Deputy PACS Manager to join the PACS team within the Department of Radiology at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. The successful candidate will assist the PACS manager in the provision and evolution of all Radiology facing IT systems e.g. Radiology Information System (RIS), Image Exchange Portal (IEP). We have three sites to be supported: Croydon University Hospital (CUH) and two community diagnostics centres at Purley War Memorial Hospital and New Addington.
Croydon University Hospital is a large urban DGH situated in South London, serving a diverse population. The department performs in excess of 300,000 all examinations per annum and has an active Clinical Governance programme. There are currently over 160 WTE staff in post in the Diagnostic Imaging department. The Deputy PACS Manager will aid in ensuring that all imaging services across the Trust are supported.

Main duties of the job
* To deputise and support the Radiology PACS Manager.
* Assist in managing the effective implementation, delivery and operation of a PACS and RIS to the Trust.
* Provide support to system users and ensure the system functions correctly across all Trust sites, working with IT and staff to ensure delivery and quality of the system.
* Provide first line support to system users and take the lead responsibility for staff training (radiology and non-radiology staff), developing training plans and participating in training programmes.
* To deputise for Radiology PACS Manager as the link between Radiology, IT, internal and external users, including other PACS Managers within the South West London PACS consortium.
* Provide first line support to deal with day-to-day faults and system/operator errors and problems.
* Contribute to the management of the Radiology service through the Senior Management team.
* There is no budgetary responsibility; however, the post holder is responsible for ordering specialist equipment, signing timesheets, and travel expenses for the team they manage.

Croydon Health Services provides integrated NHS services to care for people at home, in schools, and health clinics across the borough as well as at Croydon University Hospital, Purley War Memorial Hospital and the new Community Diagnostic Centre in New Addington. CUH provides more than 100 specialist services and hosts the borough's Emergency Department and 24/7 maternity services. Purley War Memorial Hospital offers outpatient care including diagnostic services. The New Addington site provides outpatient and GP imaging in x-ray, ultrasound and CT, alongside other services.
The Radiology Department is undergoing significant investment in new equipment, including 8 new ultrasound units, a Cone Beam CT dental unit, plain x-ray room and a CT replacement within 2025/26. We are a close-knit and friendly organisation where each of our approximately 3600 staff is valued.

Person Specification
Education & Qualifications
* Essential: Degree level qualifications or equivalent experience
* Desirable: Professions Council or equivalent IT/Healthcare experience
* Diploma or Degree in a Health Sciences or IT related field, or demonstrably work to an equivalent level
* Prince 2 (or equivalent) Foundation level qualification
* Recognised management qualification
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* DCR or BSc in Radiographic Imaging or equivalent and appropriate professional body registration
Experience
* Essential: Few years' experience post within an NHS Radiology department.
* Desirable: Evidence of innovation and achievement in management practice.
* Evidence of successful operational leadership and involvement in change management
* Evidence of successful involvement in production of clear business cases.
Skills & Abilities
* Essential: Knowledge of PACS and RIS systems e.g. Sectra PACS/Soliton Radiology+
* Knowledge of Windows operating systems and related MS Office products with the ability to manipulate statistical data using Microsoft Excel or other platforms
* High level of verbal and written communications skills, including report writing and handling complaints
* Well-developed analytical skills with the ability to present information clearly, concisely and in a variety of formats
* Desirable: Knowledge of an Order communication systems such as Cerner PowerChart
* Knowledge of DICOM, HL7
* Basic knowledge of GP systems
