About the Role
Teaching Personnel are seeking a committed and empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team and support secondary schools across the Tameside area. This role is ideal for someone with experience as a youth worker, particularly those who have supported young people with mental health challenges. If you are passionate about helping students overcome social, emotional, and mental health barriers and thrive in an inclusive learning environment, we want to hear from you.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral teams to provide tailored support to students who may struggle with emotional regulation, anxiety, or behavioural difficulties. Your role will involve building positive relationships, promoting resilience, and helping students access the curriculum effectively.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
* Assist with classroom engagement and learning activities.
* Encourage positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
* Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.

Requirements
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (school-based experience preferred).
* Background in youth work or supporting individuals with mental health challenges is highly desirable.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
* A genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.
* GCSE-level standard education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
