An exciting opportunity at the Perse has arisen for a Teacher of Biology to start in September 2025. We are looking to appoint a high achieving scientist, on a one year fixed term basis, to join a supportive, energetic and collegiate department.

The successful candidate will have a genuine enthusiasm for biology and be well placed to generate and sustain a high degree of motivation in all pupils, who are mainly of a high ability.
Biology is a core subject alongside chemistry and physics. All pupils currently take three separate sciences to GCSE after completing a preparatory biology course in years 7 and 8. We follow the Edexcel GCSE course in the Middle School, and the department routinely achieves outstanding GCSE results.
Biology is a popular A-level choice, with approximately 140 students studying it in the Lower and Upper Sixth. Since September 2022, the department has been teaching the OCR A-level course, which is academically challenging and requires pupils to develop their independent learning and questioning skills to succeed. Practical work is an integral part of our teaching, and all laboratories are equipped to the highest standards.
Students studying Biology regularly succeed in gaining places to read Natural Sciences or Biological Sciences at Cambridge and Oxford. Many students pursue degrees such as Dentistry, Medicine, and Veterinary Science. The Medical Forum and Sixth Form Biology Society provide extension material for students aiming for these competitive courses.
Public exam results consistently place The Perse in the top 20 schools nationally, with over 50 pupils typically receiving Oxbridge offers each year.
